Ludwig Wittgenstein

                                      Ludwig Wittgenstein

“The limit of my world means the limit of my language” a simple quote that gives a thought about the connection of the reality and language. This quote is from a philosopher named Ludwig Wittgenstein. The writer of the famous philosophy, Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus that discusses the relationship between reality, mind and language. This philosophy consists of seven basic propositions. The work have the goal to solve the problems of philosophy.

1889, in the 26th of April a man named Ludwig Josef Johann Wittgenstein was born. Wittgenstein is an Austrian-British philosopher. He is the writer of the famous philosophy Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, and in 1953 he published a book entitled Philosophical Investigations. Wittgenstein worked primarily in logic the philosophy of math, mind and language which made him popular. He is also a soldier from World War 1 when he wrote his philosophy Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus. We all believe that things in the world is temporary, 29th of April, 1951 Wittgenstein died in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

The philosophy Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus deals about the relationship of reality and language. This work have the goal of solving the problems in philosophy which according to Wittgenstein that most of the problems of philosophy arise when people try to ask about things that can only be shown, such as the logical structure of the world. He also added, philosophy, unlike science is not a body of theories or propositions. It should be thought as the activity of clarifying things, going deeper and understanding things. In the philosophy he said a quote “the limit of my word means the limit of my language” which he’s pointing about the limits of thoughts a person can have. That what can people see in the reality and the world that’s also the limit of their language. The world is all, it is the fact, reality of things the physical structure of reality a bowl full of facts according to him, but we can think more beyond the reality of things and enlarge our thoughts.

In the present time Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus is still applicable. Here in our age, people get easily hooked by what the world can show and what eyes can see. This work gives the reader the thought of viewing things beyond the reality just like where in philosophy we are asking, seeking and thinking deeper. We are able to discover things not like science that only bases on what the things that eyes can see and can only be shown. As an example, there’s a door, all what we can see is a physical structure of a door, but if we will open it we are able to see what’s inside that door. Let’s say that the door represents the reality, inside the door represents the things beyond reality same as this philosophy wants to discuss that we should learn to open the door of our limitations, the door of reality and think beyond it. In this way we are able to make our world larger and thoughts wider than what we can see.  This work helps us to analyse things so we can clarify what is really is language and its obscure logical structure. Just like what the quote from this work “Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one will be silent” this means that what cannot be said must be passed in silence, this gives the truth we can’t describe things that we don’t know so we will just be silent and there comes the limit of our world because some people only bases in the things can be touch, smell, see, they are not thinking and seeking more through things so that they can make a proposition of things in their minds.

All in all Tractatus Logico-Philisophicus can also be helpful not only in the world of philosophy but also in our normal lives through this we can solve problems, we can make our world larger and go beyond our limitations when it comes to the world of language. We should not only base in the things can see but also in the things beyond what we can see, just like in a picture where we are able to think what’s in that picture and make a thought. Lastly, Wittgenstein wants to enlighten us and solve the problem of philosophy about what we think and what I the fact, which Tractatus itself is about the relationship between the reality and mind.
